lost in canadian genealogy sites

totally lost in trying to find out information relating to the Arrival of Francis Mc Gourlick and his wife Agnes Mathieson.

Best i can find is a registration of Helen Mc Gourlick 1906

i cannot find Francis and his family anywhere in the Scottish Records after 1905

i believe he came to Canada around May 1906/1907

can some kind soul HELP me? to find the family

Hello Joe,

    Finally a request that I don't believe to be in Ontario/Quebec  .  I was able to find a Francis McGourlick living in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan who left Glascow Scotland in 1904.  Here's the link:

I haven't been able to find them on the 1911 census.....will keep looking.

Scroll halfway down......it seems that Don is on the memorial as lost in the war....but this was reported in error and he was still very much alive in 2005!

On a related note,  there is only 3 total McGourlick living in Canada....one happens to be a Donald F McGourlick in B.C.

FANTASTIC Jeff, yes this is the two brothers missing from my tree!!

francis was born in 1872 and married agnes mathieson on the 1st june 1894 in my wee town called Johnstone.

his brother thomas was born in 1881

they had a brother John who i am researching as he is the direct connection to the family....man what a find

i will pm my email as i would love a copy of that story and photo's

Well that's good....btw on a non-genealogy note....all 3 McGourlicks in BC are all Vancouver Island in BC (makes it seem that it's the same family).  There was a Betty McGourlick who died in 1964 in BC??

Through a bit of digging I was able to find an email for kerry and a contact email for chris...but nothing for Don...

So I'm confused this is your family?? Long day at work yesterday my mind is still a bit mushy

have the info for mary agnes and john as they were all born in scotland, have the info for helen's birth also but i do not have the birth info for annie and ada mc gourlick, william, phyllis and donald mcgourlick all born in gull lake

would any one have any idea where i could access their births?

it would also be nice to find out who the children married, anyone any ideas?

there is mention that francis passed away in 1934 can i found out about this? also his brother thomas in the early 1940's? no mention of agnes mc gourlick passing away?

i have so many questions better stop asking before all the canadian rootschatters fall out with me

Hey Joe,

  Maybe a quick phone call to Kerry or Chris or Donald would answer some questions.  will maybe try the email addresses I have when I get home from an errand (I'll send you a Carbon copy as well)....it is only 11:07 a.m. there in British Columbia December 3...so the chances of you waking them up are slim.

   Unfortunately Saskatchewan is a fairly young province (only 100 years old) and records aren't released to the public until at least 90 years have passed.  Your best bet would be to give a quick phone call to these people to see if they are family.  The McGourlick family kept a low profile here  in Canada (no WW1 vets, no obituaries, etc.) that I can see at first glance. As well there are only 3 listed in all of Canada, so the margin of error is slim or some married and have different last names.

Hope this helps....let me know if you do call...would like to see how this pans out.
