Hi Chris
It could mean that they were born at sea outward bound for India
Have you got the birth cert or does the info come from another source?

Hi,
I'm getting this information from the census of 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1881 - so no changes throughout the decades! The lady in question was born c1818 so I'm unable to get any further information at this moment.
