I have a letter from a Nancy Wardell, gt granddaughter of Sarah Bushby,(Stan's mother), stating that Sarah's mother was a Margaret Calvert before she married Thomas Bushby.  Sarah married George Metcalfe at Hawes on 08/12/1859.

I know this is an old post, but hopefully you can help.

We've got an Isabella Bushby in the family tree that would fit with your Bushby family - just to confirm - is her sister Sarah married to George Metcalfe, whose daughter Margaret is the mother of Stan Laurel?
(just to confirm a family rumour!)

Baptised at Hawes 28/09/1831 Margaret dau of Thomas and Margaret Bushby of Burtersett(sic) farmer

Baptised at Hawes 13/11/1832 Sarah dau of Thomas and Margaret Bushby of Burtersett farmer

Baptised at Hawes 17/02/1835 Hannah dau of Thomas and Peggy Bushby of Burtersett farmer

Hannah Bushby married Thomas Peart (miner) son of William (miner) at Hawes 15/09/1858

Sarah Bushby (shoemaker) married George Metcalfe son of William (shoemaker) 08/12/1859 at Hawes

Margaret Bushby married Matthew Grainger (shoemaker) son of Richard (clogger) 16/04/1863 at Hawes

Isabella Bushby married Thomas Calvert (tailor) son of Thomas (labourer) 03/06/1848 at Hawes

Thomas Bushby buried 29/03/1848 at Hawes aged 61

I can see no record of baptism for a Thomas Bushby in the Aysgarth area about 1800
