Hello Marcie
If one goes strickly by the Free BMD without obtaining the actual marriage certificate for Jane Maria's marriage or following up in the parish records I can see the "jonas hillier fevere" connection -assumption!

You'll find the baptism and marriage microfilms sort it all out for you providing names of her parents. Here's a preview of what was a confusing story for me to sort out.
There were two Jane Maslin(g)s born in London Colney
- only one Jane Maria though.
- born within about 2 years of each other - cousins
- what was confusing , information in various places on the net is incorrect as the the wrong Jane has been "assumed" as the bride from searching the baptisms. The London Colney marriages are not transcribed to the IGI and that film was gave the answers.
Jane Masling married John Long in 1874. LDS Microfilm # 1040872 is one story.
This is my connection:
Jane Maria MASLIN born Jun 23, 1849 St. Peter London Colney
to George and Mary MASLIN (nee OLNEY) LDS Microfilm # 1040843
Jane Maria MASLIN married James William FEARNE (aka FANE) (son of couple in first post above)
May 6, 1871 in St. Peter London Colney LDS Microfilm # 1040872
I have baptism records for 8 known children for this couple found on LDS microfilm # 1040843. all recorded as FEARN(E). The mother's name is recorded as Jane Maria in each case except for one. Most children will be found in the Civil Registration index under the spelling of FANE. The surnames of MASLIN and MASLING are interchanged throughout the parish records as well.
Jane Maria FANE was buried Oct 11, 1905 at age 53 which again is confusing with her date of birth! It looks by the years of birth and death you've provided, we have the same Jane Maria, so I know the parish records will help you out.
James William's sister, Hannah FANE was my gt. grandmother.
