Scanning Tutorial
« on: Thursday 23 November 06 01:30 GMT (UK) »
Yes, finally..here it is...I've had a devil of a job trying to get it small enough to post so I will have to apologise for the extremely poor quality of the images but it's a perfect example of jpeg compression (you will see what I mean!!).

Anyway, this is just a draft.  It was written mainly in the middle of the night (literally!!) so I apologise for any grammatical errors etc.  Also, I am by no means an expert, it has been a long time since I did "Computing 101"  ;D so it may be technically incorrect...I will leave it to you to correct me.

All feedback is welcome from restorers and users...I have thick skin so will not be offended.

This is about the 4th re-write I've done, as I realised in my earlier efforts that I had lost sight of our target audience and the diverse range of ages and skills base of rootschat users and produced something that was far too technical.  I hope I got it right this time as I have tried to develop a simple, short instruction for the novice.  It is not my intention to provide a crash course in computing as that would defeat the purpose of this exercise.

Please either PM me with feedback or post...hopefully when this is in it's final stage we will be able to get permission to post a bigger file so the images are much clearer.

Brilliant work Cazza

Easy to read and amusing too.  You stopped it from becoming a boring lesson, not easy to do.  Well done.  It must have taken considerable time to get this together, I know that as I sometimes do these kind of things at work.  You have done really well and it is so easy to follow.  Hats off to you.  I do hope they attach this to the top of the board as I think everyone can benefit from it, members and restorers.

Once again, well done

Wow Cazza  :o  Great Job!!  :D
Well done, that's really fabulous.  I don't think I'd change a thing.  It was succinct, clear and not "heavy" or offputting at all.  I think it should work really well, most people shoudl be able to follow those instructions very easily.  Those who can't follow them can let us know where they are getting stuck (e.g. "I'm stuck on page 10 of Cazza's tutorial!!") and it will then be easier for us to help them.

Thank you so much for doing all this hard work.  I know what it's like to try to fit "favours" and things in around the rest of your life, and really appreciate your effort  :D

Cheers
Prue

Hi Cazza  :)

I have had a good read of your guide. it is really very clearly written, without being patronizing to 'newbies' an a really worthwhile excercise.

I do hope that this and your guide can be stickied to the top of this board as essential reading.

Well done  :)
