ITM Dunedin - Look-up

Greetings,

I was wondering if someone could do a look-up for me, please?

I have a Mary Ann Badier married to John Bellett, 2 December 1874.

The marriage cert say at the house of Mrs Badier widow, St Andrews St Dunedin.

Only other info is John a sailor and bachelor.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jamjar not sure if this is your family,Mary Ann Bellet March 27th 1917 Death Dunedin that is also with the NZSG certificate collection.In the 1893 electoral found Bridget Bellet Jones Street Dunedin Domestic duties and Kate Bellet Jones Street Dunedin Domestic duties also in the 1893 roll was a Patrick John bellet bookseller Dunedin hope it helps a little Happy Hunting

It could very well be the Bellet I'm looking for.

How do I get more information, or the certificate?

The other Bellets are a possible connection, if they were related to John.

Hi Jamjar also found this Alice Mildred Bellet born April 29th 1892 Forbury school Dunedin Parent J Bellet you could email the genealogy society or go to their website www.genealogy.org,nz/ and request the cerificate from NZSG Certificate collection also try http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ they have wills etc another one that is good http://www.downtown.co.nz/genealogy/ there is a message board there as well Didnt find anything on John try the dunedin cemetries they werent there Good Luck Kate NZ

I actually found a Mary Bellet buried in a cemetery in Dunedin. I have the plot number somewhere.

Hi Jamjar and Kate

Do either of you have (approximate) age for Mary Ann Badier m John Bellet? I have good reason to believe she was the widow of Philippe Badier who died late 1860's in Jersey. Believe Mary Ann and (most of ) her kids emigrated to New Zealand after 1871 - some of the kids came on to Australia but it looks like Mary Ann was sidetracked by marriage in NZ!

Any further info either of you might have on Mary Ann I'd be eager to hear - and if she ties up with this Jersey family I have more info to share.

Hi Kim,

Yes, this is the same person. Mary - real name Marie - was my GGGrandmother. Her daughter Ida was my GGrandmother. All of her children born in Jersey - and taken to NZ -  came to Australia. One she left in Jersey.

I have an excellent photo of the daughter Marie, given to me by a direct descendant of that line. I don't have any of Ida. If you let me know your connection we can discuss other things I have you may be interested in.

I only need two bits of information to complete my side. I need the death cert for Marie - Mary - and I need to know when, and on which ship, her children came to Australia.

I have actually met Ann and we exchanged all we both had. The photo I have of Marie came from her.
