Hi I am researching Warner. I am from Nova Scotia and a Thomas and William Warner came here in 1835. Their father was Thomas and mother was Catherine Bond d/o Capt. Thomas Bond.................Thomas Warner had a daughter Catherine who married a London Policeman William Deedman ca 1845. Thomas also had at least 2 brothers Robert and William 1841 census

   Roberts letter was 1854   8.C)Robert The information of Roberts children is taken from a letter and it appears to be written possibally by his wife. The children are:The youngest is 13 years of age.there is no mention of this ones age Mary, the oldest, is married and has 5 children

Williams letter between 1854 and 1856   8. b)William From a letter seems his wife was also a Sarah Their children also from the letter My elder daughter, Sarah married to a man at Woodamwater but she is dead. She has left two boys. She died Oct 12, 184?, aged 26.

Martha, my next daughter, married a man from Danbury and died Sept 5, 1846, aged 21 years.. Left no family.

Elizabeth is living in Springfield, aged 26.

Thomas living at home, 23.

John died July 18, 1841, aged 9,

Ellen, aged 1? is at home.

Henry died Sept 4, 1843, aged 5.

Joseph, aged 13, at home.

Mary Ann died April 11, 1843, aged 6 years.

My eldest son, William is 24 years old. He is in the army, the 68th Light Infantry at Malta. He enlisted Nov 12,1843 and in 2 years he got in the band and now is full musician. We have not seen him since he went away. This is five years. (see letters

Hi, It might be a good idea to try the 1851 census for Gt Baddow and get the birthplaces for the Warners.  Sandon is not far from Gt Baddow and I have some info on two Warner families (my ancestors) from Sandon.   My ancestor John Warner had a brother William who was baptised 6 Sep 1772 at Sandon, which is a good match for the William Warner 70 years of age in the 1841 Gt Baddow census.  If you check out the 1851 census for Gt Baddow and find a Sandon connection, let me know, with luck you may find William still alive in 1851.  By the way, John Warner also had a connection with Springfield, his first child was born there 1803 and buried at Sandon 25 Sep 1803.  This of course may all be purely coincidental but you never know.

Have just re read my reply (dated 23 Feb 2004) to your post and I realise that I left out something which may be of use to you.  The father of John Warner, my ancestor and the William I mentioned was named Robert, other children of Robert were named Elizabeth, Henry & Sarah, all these names are the same as those you mentioned in your post.  It makes an even stronger reason for you to keep my Warners in mind.

Hi Alistair,
My Warner line ends in 1836 when Sarah Warner married John Card at Sandon, her parents were John Warner & Elizabeth Sewell.  I found 7 children of John & Elizabeth but no Joseph.  In the generation prior to that family, no Joseph either, so out of a total of 10 male Warners not one Joseph found.

   Many thanks for quick response, Warners are pretty thick on the ground around Dunmow and eventually we may be able to tie them all together. The most unusual one I have is Ephraim, of whom there are three,. My grandfather, born about 1867, was christened Charley!

If anybody finds a dead end on their Warners in essex you might want to look back to Norfolk

I have in my tree a Henry Warner b.1797 Thurgarton in Norfolk who I believe married a Frances? from Wetherden in Suffolk.
I believe their children were baptised in Halstead, Essex between 1829 & 1843 with one branch of the next generation in Springfield, essex
