1851 Dukinfield Lookup
« on: Sunday 14 November 04 18:37 GMT (UK) »
If someone could do a lookup for me, I'm looking for a Patrick and Maria Mahan/Mahon in Dukinfield, Cheshire. Both were Irish-born and their ages were somewhere in the neighborhood of 23 in 1851.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike
They are not on the 1851,if your sure they should be there could they be living with others ? if so they may be indexed under another name, do you have any other census details for a Patrick and Maria ?

Hi Peter

Thanks for doing the lookup.

I'm fairly sure they were in Dukinfield in 1851. It's possible the name Mahon could have been written as it was pronounced, Mann. Does your index have a Patrick Mann in Dukinfield?

Hi Mike
I think this is them living as lodgers. If you have any problems reading the scans let me know.

Hi Peter

Thanks! That's definitely them.

I see just before Thomas Mann on page 14 there is a Mary Ann Mann in a different household. Could you please give me a screenshot of her household? I think she may also be related.

Mike

Hi Mike
No problem,I thought you might ask. There are two other Mann's in that household.

Hi
I'm new here and I'm amazed at the information on offer.  My maiden name was Mahon. Father Patrick Vincent Mahon (1926-2003) and mother Olive Elsie Dunn (1925-). I am having trouble locating Mahons as my grandfather was born in Wexford, ROI (1894), and came to this country to fight in WWI via Liverpool. His parents were John Mahon and Mary (Laughlin????). How do I start to find my Irish ancestors, as I believe an awful lot of records were destroyed?
Any help would be appreciated.
Judith Johnson (nee Mahon)
Mahon - Wexford
Spicer - Buckinghamshire
Dunn - Bermondsey
James - Bermondsey
Talbot - Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire
Young - Bermondsey
Johnson - Shropshire/Staffordshire/Wednesbury
