Redcar cemetary(completed)
« on: Wednesday 15 November 06 14:57 GMT (UK) »
New to all of this forgive my ignorance....

can someone tell me how I trace a grave.  I suspect it is in redcar as it is my great grandfathers Charles Phillips from warrenby coatham

I dont know how many are in redcar or where to start.

Hi Nicky
I live in Redcar so can contribute a little to this, I'm sure Jane will be able to add some more when she's online, I think she's well up on cemeteries in the area.
There is a cemetery at Christchurch, Coatham Road, which may well have your ancestor's grave, although it's quite small. Redcar cemetery has apparently been open since about 1874 so that's another possibility, that one is a very large cemetery.
Jane advised me to contact the cemetries officer for Redcar when I was looking for a burial, I did and he was very helpful, here is the link

Sound like you are local Nicky. The one between Coatham Road and Kirkleatham Street (between the Stead and the doctor's) is Christchurch, it's the only one I know of for Coatham. Maybe if you send a personal message to Jane (Nutty1966) she will be able to help further  :)

Hi sorry been offline for a few days - been in Liverpool with Redkop and Gjil searching for my elusive Priscilla,  anyway I have sent you a PM Nicky, but the church yard at Coatham is not so big and I am sure you may find something as long as your rellies had a headstone ::)

Just take your camera and notebook in case you get lucky, also there is another church in Kirkletham, may be worth a call in also.

Good luck
