Please Zoe may I use your photograph of the church on my web to illustrate information about my Tysoe BAYLIS family?

Hi Zoe

Mel told me yesterday you were cousins!  :D We've been trying to figure out the possible Mary Hemming connection for a little while. Thanks for the pic. I have another which I'll try to insert.....

I'm told all the headstones were made of a soft stone that does not wear well, making many of them very hard to read. Note to self: ensure own headstone made of very durable material so future generations who want to know all about me because I was either rich and famous or because I've successfully passed down a love of history can read it!

Regards
Cynthia

Hi All:

I haven't had much to contribute to the last few exchanges. But I have enjoyed Zoe's great pictures of the Tysoe parish church and Cynthia's comments on gravestones. :) :) :)

I thought you might be interested to know that the Hemings family in nearby Warmington -- that I am researching and also the reason for starting this thread -- were well known as master stone masons who were responsible for many of the fine monuments in the Warmington St Michael's churchyard.

Hi rthom,

That must be wonderful to be able to see monuments that your ancesors built, good luck with the search for Warmington Hemings, I'll keep an eye out for them  :D

Hi Zoe:

Thanks for those thoughts.

Rewinding to the first couple of entries in this thread, you will see that my personal quest is to first draw the link in the early to mid 1600s between my confirmed Mollington Hemings family and the large contingent of Hemings in Warmington. If that can be confirmed, my next quest is to find out where the family came from before Warmington, c. 1620. There is still room for a few generations in many of the parish records, so I have my fingers crossed. :) :) :)

Hi All:

For those of you researching the Hemings family in Tysoe, Mel has just made an interesting posting on a Roger Hemings appearing in the Tysoe Hearth Tax records in 1671 over on the Oxfordshire site:

Thanks, Mel.
