I have a Mary Hemmings (born 1723) in my family tree; she married Thomas Hancox of Tysoe and they had 14 children.

Unfortunately I don't know anymore about Mary at this stage. Could she be connected?

Regards
Cynthia

Hello Cynthia:

Thanks for joining in.  :) :)

Do you have any more details on the marriage of Mary to Thomas Hancox? When and where were they married? Did the register say where the bride and groom came from? Is Mary's birth date estimate from a burial?  ??? ???

Regards, rthom

PS - forgot to add: The info I gave was kindly provided to me by another Rootschatter. I've asked him whether he has personally seen the details on Mary's grave (I suspect he has, as I know he's visited that churchyard), or if he has other records. His wife is unwell, so there may be a delay before he gets back to me. If I find out more, I'll let you know.

Cynthia

Hello all fellow Hemings researchers  :D

Warwick library has transcriptions of Tysoe parish registers, I was there for hours not long ago going looking for Hemmings and other names I am researching in Tysoe going through page by page. Then I realised there was a helpful index at the back in surname order! Doh!!
To be honest by that time I had had enough but I am planning to go back soon as I still have the deaths and some Baptisms to go. Any way enough waffling  ;D

Cynthia - I've had a quiclk look at my notes and  I have a Mary Hemmings baptised 29 Sept 1726 daughter of John and Emma could this be your Mary? I haven't found a marriage to Thomas Hancox yet though

regards
Zoe

Hi Zoe

No, that appears to be a different Mary Hemmings - born/died in Cropthorne, whereas mine was, as far as I can tell, both born and died in Tysoe. Just taking another look..... according to the IGI the Mary you mention died at the age of 2, so I doubt you'll find a marraige record.  ;)

Hello Cynthia:

Thanks for that download! I wish my lot were from Tysoe; but no joy, I fear!  :) :)

Looking through your data, though, it looks like Mary's place of birth is not yet known, and the 1723 birth year is estimated from the age at burial.

Hi Cynthia,

I'm also reseaching Newman, Lighfoot, Winter & Quinney. I am related to Satchwell (Mel) (Hi cousin!)through the Robert Grantham and Mary Hemming line. Mels ancestor went to NZ, mine stayed in warwickshire!

You may have one already but here is a picture of Tysoe Parish church.
