Hello!  I am doing family research on Greens and can't find anything.  I have a Sarah Green born March 25, 1832 in Leighton Buzzard Bedfordshire who married a John Parrott from Devonshire in Canada.  I cannot find a thing on Sarah.  Any hints on where else to look?

Thank you
Heather

Have you checked that she had not married before and therefore would have been born with a different surname. I understand all parish records for Beds are on the IGI, so it is strange that her baptism isnt there. Does she say she comes from LB?
It may be worth speaking with the Bedfordshire Records office - they were very helpful when I paid for them to help me with my own research at LB.

Do  you have any further information on her?

Hope you solve this! Perhaps some other Root chatters can help on this!

Thank you for some good ideas.

Her father was George Green born in 1796 who was married to a Mary (no last name known) born 1802- died 1837.

I understand all parish records for Beds are on the IGI, so it is strange that her baptism isnt there.

Virtually all Beds baptisms and marriages pre 1813 have been extracted onto the IGI. Post 1812 entries not are so well covered.

Perhaps the family was non-conformist, or perhaps she was simply wasn't baptised. Or perhaps she was baptised in Buckinghamshire, which is very close to Leighton Buzzard.

But Leighton Buzzard baptisms for this period are on the IGI and there are no baptisms at all of children of George and Mary. When did she emigrate? Have you found her in the 1841 census?

There's no burial of a Mary Green in Leighton Buzzard in 1837. There is however a Mary Green aged 24 buried at Potsgrove, a couple of miles from LB, on 14 Feb 1837. You'd need to check the parish register to see if she's described as the wife of George. The IGI has a marriage of George Green and Mary Evans on 11 Oct 1831 at Milton Bryant, a mile from Potsgrove.

Where are George and Mary's birthdates from?

Thank you very much for that information.  I will continue to dig with the new information you gave to see if it goes in the right direction.
I am continuing the work of searching for ancestors that my mother started putting together from several sources.  This information my mother had gotten from a relative many years ago.  He is no longer alive to ask more questions and clarify anything.
Yes, eventually the family did immigrate to the U.S. but I don't have all that information with me at the moment.

Thank you for your message. My Sarah Bonham married George Green 21 April 1822 in Bierton Bucks
She was a spinster of the parish of Bierton.  The witnesses were William and Elizabeth Bonham. I think she was born about 1802 and she died  1825 aged 23.  They  had two children together Thomas Green 1824 and Hannah 1823.  George Green was from Leighton buzzard and I believe they may have moved there.

I havent got her baptism details and I dont know if Willilam and Elizasbeth mentioned above are her parents.

Does anyone have access to the Bierton Parish records to check this for me please?

If you find this sarah in your tree perhaps you can let me know.
Many thanks
