Haydock

I wonder if anyone out there could help with the following?
I am doing research on the pit village of Haydock nr, St. Helens and came across the following name.

Revereand D.K. Riddette/s

he was given a gold watch by the miners of Haydock in 1894, was there some connection with the Wood pit explosion some 16yrs before?
thanks Steve.

Hi,

I think if you logged on to www.sthelens-connect.net and asked the question there you would probably get an answer.

Try

www.n-le-w.co.uk

Lots of local history and a very well informed team, also links to list of victims of the Pit explosion and local data

The original owner of the watch was my great, great uncle who was pastor in Haydock from 1891 to 1911. He was apparently a great friend of the miners and established the Men's Institute in Haydock. He died in 1925. Do you have a picture of this watch? I would be pleased to discuss. Please contact wellingtonhouse@msn.com.
