My g grandfather Thomas Lawless I think may have come from a place called Lathom, either Mayo or Galway according to 1861 census for old swinford in Stourbridge Worcs.
Can anybody tell me if there is such a place

Hi,
I don't know if it is the right name,on the 1861 census for Stourbridge in Worcester Eng. it states that Thomas was born in Lathom Ireland, and his wife Ann (nee Reilly) was born in Jons Meath,Co. Meath, they were in Liverpool in the 1851 census with a son James who was born in Liverpool,Thomas was also in Liverpool in 1841 in lodgings.
I see that there's a place called Leitrum and wondered if that could be it.I think he came from Mayo but can't be certain, maybe you can throw some light on it
Regards Pat M

Hi Pat I was also thinking it could be  leitrim. leitrim is co, roscommon.Try the site www.leitrim-roscommon.com
lets know how you get on.
in the leitrim site there is census 1901 also for West Meath but only for the parish of Athlone, may be worth a try for you as you do not know any Parish.
Hope this help's you. Lep. :)
