St Barnabas Church, Bradwell baptism
« on: Saturday 11 November 06 11:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I am trying to find out for a friend, information on the baptism of her late mother. I understand that if she was baptised, it would have been at St. Barnabas Church, Bradwell. She was born 29th June 1931 and her name was Hilary Phillips.

I understand that the records are still held at the Church and I wondered if by any chance anyone has access to them. If not, does anyone know the name of the Vicar there so that I can write to him regarding this?

Many thanks in advance.

Jane

Hello

If you do a "Google" search for this church, quite a bit of info comes up

Good luck

Hi Jane

I think we've corresponded before - I'm Dave's (Lesley's half-brother) wife. I have hit a similar brick wall with Hilary's family - did you ever find anything out, track down their marriage or anything? They are monumentally elusive  :'(

Hi there

Haven't found anything on the actual baptism, but her birth was registered Bakewell District q/e Sep  1931 volume 7b page 1312, mother's maiden name xxxxxxx. amended this to hide name just in case

On freebmd there is a marriage of a John Henry Phillips to Alice Bennett q/e Dec 1918, Glossop District vol 7b page 1711 ( the marriage took place at Dinting United Methodist Zion Chapel).

Hope this gets you started

All the best

Hi, I live in Bradwell and I would be more than happy to track down some records for you. If you would like I could also find and send you some photos of your ancestors gravestones (if they were buried there).
Rowland family of Youlgreave/Bakewell, Andrew family of Bradwell, Gascoigne family of South Yorkshire and Saxby family of Hull/Lincoln. Families in Bradwell, Hope, Castleton etc. (Hope Valley), Derbyshire.
