Sorry, I meant John Howitt's father Robert (described as a gentleman and churchwarden at Eastwood) born 1639.

Dear Commander,  We have a painting by Frank P Howitt, dated 1913.  It was framed by A. G. Emans, The Original Picture Framing Stores, 139, Portland Road, Hucknall Torkard and looks as if it might have been painted in Scotland.   Do you have any information about his life as an artist or where any of his other work might be?  You say in your post that he was 'a famous artist', but we can't trace anything about him.  Thanks,  Beagler
