Indexes - Unfilmed Parts of the 1851 census

I recently spent a very long time looking for people in the 1851 census and it was only after posting the question "is some of it missing?" that I learned parts of this census were not filmed, but I was told some people may have indexes.

I am looking for anyone with the name DEAVILLE, DE VILLE, DAVILL (and about another 30 spelling variants!) in the Salford and Manchester areas and would be very grateful if anyone could help.

The 1851 Manchester & Salford census was badly damaged by water and illegible, but the M & L FHS used ultra violet light to recover 70 - 80% of the records, these are the Unfilmed, the remaining records were either missing or too badly damaged.

Anyway I have found these, hopefully they will be what your after.

These are not exactly 'my' family...yet!  With so many spelling variations on the name I have ended up doing a kind of unofficial one name study to try and link them all together and hope that in the end they turn out to be 'Dabill' of Nottinghamshire!

I looked for the name DABILL, no luck I'm afraid.
I did find these:

Hi Dave,

I don't think you will find any Dabill in Lancashire.  You might find De Ville, Devile, Deavell, Deyville but nothing with a 'B' in it.

In the Nottingham area they are Dabill, Deabill, Davil and Daybell.  In Derbyshire they become Deabell and Deavell, in Staffordshire they are anything without the 'B' and by the time they get to Lancashire they seem to have become mostly Deaville, but there always the totally misspelt Doiuvoilles etc.!

You set me another poser with the Joseph you found in a Trade Directory - Grocer & Tea Dealer.  I've been searching for him this afternoon (he becomes a German Yeast Merchant) but I rather think he and his wife Frances travelled quite a lot because I can only find them together in 1861 - and of course not at all in 1851.
He is quite interesting to me because he originates from Leek, Staffordshire, so most likely ties in with some I already have!
