You may not realise what a good question that is Dave!

When I said I know about Smith & Eli I hadn't taken particular notice of the date of this entry.  The Smith I know about wasn't born until about 1819 so it's hardly likely to be him, and Eli came later.  The mother of Smith (1819) was Sarah, and I have a sneaking suspicion her husband was an Eli (from some suspicious baptisms on the IGI) - I wonder if his father was a Smith????

My head's beginning to hurt again!

Hi there,

Many Smith Deavilles are descended from Elizabeth Smith b1740 who married John Deaville b1736 in Leek Staffs. I have Smith b.1773, Smith b.1804, Smith b.1810 and Smith b.1850 on my tree.
