Unfortunately Stilton parish register is not on the IGI so any computer search, whether by surname or christian name, is academic.
The only way to do it is:
- to hope that someone reading this thread has the Stilton transcript and flicks through baptisms for the appropriate years (quite possible and not onerous as there won't be more than a handful of baptisms a year)
- buy the transcript from Hunts FHS (£7 inc post)
- pay Huntingdon records office to go through the register, but that is likely to be more expensive than buying the transcript and you may then find that you need another Stilton look up to look for earlier generations.
- go to Huntingdon and check the register yourself
Finding the marriage would help - I see that in 1851 their eldest child was 11, and in 1841 who I assume to be them had no children, so I think a marriage c1839/40 seems likely. They were living at St Pancras and there is a marriage on FreeBMD in St Pancras in the June quarter 1839 (vol 1 page 323) where there was John Bradley and Elizabeth Dixon on the same page, although it's impossible to say if Elizabeth was one of the 4 females on that page who married John, other than ordering the certificate, with perhaps a check point that you only want to proceed if the wife is Elizabeth.
But I cannot see any Dixon marriages in Stilton, and there are no burials either so perhaps that marriage is a red herring (but if you're desperate then you have to clutch at straws!). There are two burials of Ashby individuals in Stilton, Elizabeth age 45 on 24 Dec 1801 and William aged 62 on 7 Mar 1821. These look of an age to be Elizabeth's maternal grandparents, but I'm jumping the gun here. One step at a time!
