Thanks Dave.  Goodness, that was lightning fast!  My G3-grandparents John and Sarah Hemmings were the innkeepers of The Boot from about 1836 to the late 1860s.  I was hoping to learn more about the history of the establishment and especially to find out if there is a surviving picture of it.

Hi rthom
There is this website about a person doing old Pubs and Inn's in Northampton, perhaps they may be able to help with a photo. Might be worth a try.

Hi rthom  :)

Jon Small is the person in Northampton who has done all the work re: the Pubs and Inns of Northampton Town.

He gave me a copy of his work ( an index of Licenses and Directories listing the occupants) so if you need anything else let me know and I will e-mail it to you.

Cheers Sandy

Thanks for the info again, Sandy.  I am definitely interested in any other information you could send on to me offline (same email address).

HI rthom

I have sent a list from Jon's index for you.

I suppose they will be photographs of the Boot Inn in Old Northampton Books but most will still be under copy-right.

If you still wish I could see if I can find out any more for you in a few days if no one else does sooner.

Sandy

Many thanks, Sandy.  The list has helped to sharpen up the family coordinates in this period.  It now appears that the Hemmings family sold The Boot Inn to a Joseph Perkins around 1864 after running it for nearly 30 years.

I would love to see any old pictures of The Boot as this was a central focus of the family for so many years in Northampton.  But please don't put yourself to too much trouble.

Regards, rthom
