can anyone do a lookup for me please on the 1891 census  in co durham,Head of household would be listed as Michael Rutherford my G/Grandfather,aged around 34 -36, also my Grandmother who would be  around 11 years old, I do not know  the names of my Grandmothers siblings ,but i believe they were younger than she was. Also i do not have any info on the name of my G/Grandmother    or where they lived ,Ido hope someone can be of help.THANKS A LOT MAUREEN.

Hi Maureen,

I've had a quick look and the only Michael Rutherford of that age (that I can find) is living with his mother and there are no young children in the household.

If you can tell me your Grandmother's name I can try to search for her.

Hi Maureen,

Tried again and there are 8 Margaret Rutherfords around the age of 11 living in Co. Durham in 1891! None of which are living with a father called Michael.

I found one who is the eldest of a number of children. Parents were George age 39 born Roxborough, occupation ship joiner and Mary aged 39 born Roxborough, Margaret aged 11 born Roxborough and the other children born in Hebburn (Thomas 9, David 7, George 5 & Christina 3) All living in the Hedworth, Monkton, Jarrow area.

Have you tried to find you Grandmother's birth certificate to establish her mother's name?

Auckland St Andrews is very near Bishop Auckland which is 10 miles or less from Crook. If they moved there when Margaret was very young....

I suspect the reason why Michael Rutherford cannot be found in 1891 is because of this entry in 1881....
