How wonderful - I think it is just great and your capture of so much of the words in the beautiful photo is amazing. Thank you!

Thank you Rhododendron. Very nice. Where is the stone located? Against the wall of the Song Room? On the south side or on the east side?

Cheers,

Hope this link works and it is picture with the Monk, where I think the lady might look like Carrie, and the lady in the one with Satyr not so much

Lovely Find, Cherie Lynn! You're collecting quite a catalogue of his work.

I don't quite understand the reference to "Mihran". Did RSK sometimes sign his work that way? Or could this possibly be a collaboration with another student of that name? (I'm not savvy enough about art to tell if these are all by the same hand or not.) Yes, I expect that you are right about him using his mother as a muse.

Very nice. By all means, buy it! 2800 euros plus shipping - a mere bagatelle (grin).

Cheers,
Westoe

Hi: The Mihran is separate but in the end, I own it also, so it is hoping for a good home. It is definitely different hand and I have have been working to see which Mihran's were in Paris 1901. Two for certain that I can see. I learned from an Armenian researcher that this is an (sometimes?usually?) ethnically Armenian name and is a male name and a given name - so maybe he can get home also.

She was willing to take the pictures out of the shelf.  I really think the lady in the monk picture looks like Carrie. Three of them are fully signed but on the one with the cowboy and lady you can see it was cut, likely to fit that shelf and the name is cut off - except the dd: (with the colon that we sometimes see on his signature at the end of his name- and the 01 of the date.

I understand the law on copyright is 70 years from his death which will be June 8 2022 - but I am not sure what this means as if selling I believe I can post them to see to sell as this seller did - but I want to respect doing it correctly  :)

I wonder if the Satyr means that he was already having feeling about his name then? There is a 1904 passenger record where he uses Winton so I wonder. I am sorry I missed the first one as I believe it looked very much like his self portrait, but the company took that listing off line and the library redid their website and there is nothing there for any of their artists anymore.

I mentioned this article on page 12 of this thread. I got the date wrong then it was 1925. Those links from before will not work any longer, I don't think. This one should.

This painting still exists and is hanging at the Lake Worth Library in Lake Worth, Palm Beach County Florida.

This article notes what I believe is the first viewing of this mural

This is from the link provided by the newspaper website they have choices to share their articles this is the embed link

Erm .... that was already reported in reply #41 on page 5 of this thread. It is the only known instance of Henry Lee being recorded as Henry Havelock Lee.

Cheers,
Westoe

I thought it was not new but I did not remember it - so it was new to me. Genealogy is thrilling all over again. I wonder how long I will be able to think of enough to enjoy knowing any of it.
