Hello Cherie-Lynn,
Hello Terry,

Just to tell you that tonight I posted a link on the Ireland General board to a Parliamentary Paper on Pawnbroking in Ireland, published in 1838. I looked, but *didn't* find any mention in it of any Kidd in co. Monaghan as pawnbroker, so perhaps John Kidd Sr. was doing something else at the time.

Cheers,
Westoe

Great Stuff Westoe! Thank you. That publication is also available on Google Books.

I did make a request for a look-up for them in Castleblaney and in the parish and the county but that was the only record for a Kidd.

The only record I have ever found of John Sr's father George Kidd is on John's 3rd marriage record to Georgina Batten. No parents on his 2nd marriage to Mary Jane Walker and I have not found the marriage for John to our grandmother Mary Jane Hutton.

John Sr's obit does not say any relations his death cert only names Georgina's cousin and I haven't found a death cert nor the burial for our Mary Jane Hutton Kidd, she is not with John in Lancashire.

John Kidd did have the niece living with him in 1871, an Edith Kidd born about 1862 in Ireland but nothing else.

In 1850 - if this is him - is named as of Liverpool and Dublin, on the left from top about 12th line down.

And this is a John Kidd and a Jonathan Lee about Pluckett, on the left side of page in middle.

Here is another mention for 1846 John Kidd Pawn Broker, York Street

Click on Castleblaney and he is there on the right side under Misc.

Thanks Westoe for the mention of County Monaghan info on Rootschat!

Thank you for the info did you receive the photographs of the graves from New Zealand, sorry for delay my son in law only visits occasionally. Westoe you were correct regarding my Grandfathers occupation initially, but as you are aware they were exceedenly talented family and my Grandfather was a mechanic and a very good radio repairer.
