Sorry for joining in here but I wondered Cherie Lynn whether you realised that there were in fact very few gravestones erected in Tynemouth General Cemetery - which as you will no doubt know was a private cemetery for Protestant Dissenters.
The very few gravestones that survived the heavy bombing during the War were removed to another Cemetery.
Apologies if you were already aware of this but I haven't read the numerous previous posts on this topic.

Hello Rhododendron: Thank you and your comments are very welcome. I have been of the view that we should not just have photos of gravestones but also the graves or the wider grave area. So to me locating a burial and a photo of a park area or a parking lot are both good for me. So we believe that the graves were left but the stones moved, so I would think photos of both places will be great, if I can just get the directions close.

Thank you, Cherie Lynn

Hello Cherie Lynn,

I've had confirmation from a local researcher. Yes, the little park sits on TGC. So does the school sportsfield behind which you can see in Google streetview when you zoom in on the entrance to the park. So there you are. The directions are pretty explicit; NW corner of intersection of Albion and Brightman Roads, North Shields plus sportsfield behind.

Cheers,
Westoe

P.S. Joseph and Ann are buried about 7 blocks away from their home. I expect that they often strolled in that cemetery, perhaps even picked out the spot they would prefer.

Westoe: I emailed google once about using screen captures of some of their wonderful things. The reply said as long as their logo is on the page. But I bet their rules have changed mega times since then.

I "found" a very old Lunsford cemetery on google earth once following the directions from findagrave. The screen captures are wonderful of this old stone mound in the yard of a farm house.

I should be ashamed I have not wanted to learn more about them but here begins the Seton story. I have read a few snippets from the online newspapers but geeze, one would have to ... I feel exhausted just thinking about it. But I have wondered about Captain Joseph. Is that Captain as in ships captain?

I am going to try to write out a concise request for photos of the park, when why how where

I am of course quoting you Westoe and should I quote about dissenting?

Hello Cherie Lynn,

Dissenting?? Hmmm. Certainly there were a lot of Presbyterians buried there, but as far as I know, there was no exclusivity. It was, after all, Tynemouth General Cemetery.

Yes, Joseph was a mariner and shipowner, so captain as in ship's captain.

Cheers,
Westoe

Thank you Westoe: There is another volunteer, the one who added the new photos for EDT and St Hilda's also. I am going to ask him if he could photog Albion and Brightman. Is there an existing address for the Joseph and Ann home? Maybe he would photog something interesting on that street also if he can go.

Thank you,
