GABB
« on: Monday 06 November 06 04:27 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

If you are descended from William Gabb who had children in the late 1700s/early 1800s in the Stonehouse/Kings Stanley area I would love to hear from you.  William might have been a baptist as his son John was.  I am desperately trying to find John's mother and IGI doesn't have a record that I can confidently fit.

Also any advice on finding ancestors who aren't IGI and who emigrated prior to the 1841 census would be much appreciated.

Regards,
AmandaP (nee Gabb)

Hi AmandaP,
If you look on the net in telstra's white pages, you will find at least one Gabb in Bathurst, NSW.  She has a daughter that she may care to put you onto.  Im sure that Gordon Gabb (Anglican and dec c1998) came from somewhere in England.

I will endeavour to make what enquiries Im able in the meantime

Hope that this helps.

Hi Robert & Karon,

Thank you.  Do you mean that the "Gabb daughter" has traced her family tree or just that you know of some Gabbs from England?

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your reply, I've sent you my email address via PM, as I can't access your email address through the forum.  I'm sure we're related somewhere back there along the way, fingers crossed you have the Gabb branch I am looking for.

Regards,

Amanda

Amanda.
All I can be sure of is that there are Gabb's in Bathurst.  Im sure too, that Mr Gordon Gabb (d c1998 in Bathurst) was of British descent.

If you would like, I could in due course ring them and ask if they know of his origins, which Im sure they do.

Cheers
Robert & Karon

Hi Robert & Karon,

I've had another look at my family tree and it is possible that Gordon Gabb was my grandfather's (William Norman ("Norm") Gabb) first cousin.  I have a Gordon Gabb son of Alfred Gabb and Ida Span.  Alfred b1874 was the son of William Gabb b1828 and Ann Green b 1837, William was the Son of John Gabb and Hester Walkley m1826.  John was the son of William and ? - this is who I am searching for.  Any Gabb cousin that I have spoken to hasn't gotten further back than this, however it is my goal to do so.

If you could phone the Gabbs in Bathurst that you know, I would really appreciate it.  It is likely that Gordon is who I think he might be, most Gabbs in NSW are descended from John and Hester.

Thanks again!

Amanda

Amanda,
I have passed all this information to the Gabb family here in Bathurst.  As well I have given them the link to this page and to rootschat.  I will be in touch with them again in the next month or so and will prod them along.  Gordons daughter was quite excited with the information that I had read from here.  She is taking that information to her mothers for futher assessment and info gathering.  They have done quite a bit on their genealogy to date.

Hoping this note finds you and yours in good health and in good spirits for 2007

Robert & Karon

Hi Robert & Karon,

Gordon Gabb in my tree had a brother Loyal Leslie Gabb and a sister Yvonne Gabb.  One of his nephew's was a politician in the 80's.

At the end of last year, a cousin of mine sent me a little bit of info that she had that's not available from BDM yet so I have the children of Gordon Gabb - your lady must be the one I have in my tree.  I don't have her mother's name and details however.

If this is the same people, feel free to PM me for my email address to pass on to Gordon's daughter.

I hope you are in good health and good spirits too.

Thanks for your help.

Amanda
