HI
Tying to find information about Mary Ann Saul Her family i have been told where bankers. She married a Scott called James Robertsson and moved to Scotland But i love to find out more about Mary Ann Saul. Anyone got a hint on how to find out more . I have no birthdate on Mary Ann But i know that their daughter Margret got married in 1780.

Griffith's Valuation of Dublin 1848-51 lists three or four guys named Saul in Dublin.

Thomas Saul, Heytesbury Street, St. Patricks, Dublin
Robert Saul, Mary's Lane, St. Michans, Dublin
Robert Saul, Greek Street, St. Michans, Dublin
Peter Saul, Glassamucky, Tallaght, Dublin

Shaw's 1850 Dublin City Directory lists two more ...

Robert, 3 Lurgan St (not listed at address)
Thomas, 1 and 2 High St (woollen draper)

I'm sorry I'm not able to find out much about bankers in Dublin in the 1700s but hope what I have found so far will be of some assistance.

The NAI in Dublin has at least 9 wills for persons named Saul or Sall, the earliest of which dates from 1729, Leonard Sall in Tipperary.

Hiya Anna and Ronnie,

Mary Ann was probably born sometime in the 1750s. I'm not certain how to get more information about the bankers of that time. The Institute of Bankers in Ireland was founded in 1898. There was probably an earlier banking organisation. The Chamber of Commerce might well be the place to go for information. The Dublin Chamber is one of the oldest such organisations in Europe. It traces its origins back to the Autumn of 1695 when the Dublin shipping company of Ferris, Twiggs and Cash sent their vessel Ouzel Galley on an important trading journey to the near-Eastern Seas.
