I thought that i had sent you a reply  re Tate but i do not see it here which is good because it was awfully stupid and i wanted to apologize  Since i am getting a second chance , here is what i know, as per family story Mary SNOWDON of South Shields, Newcastle , dau. of John SNOWDON, shipwright and Mary Ann BIDDLESTONE  or BITTLESON  had a dau Mary b c1816 who married George Alexander TATE Her sister Ann married Samuel Farrar of Leeds, a draper Tjhey had no Children and he married 2 Alice? Ann was known as "Aunt Tate and considered a bit of a gorgon.  2Rootschatters  "Manchester Rambler"    and' DS" helped me sort the farrars a bit . All the Web, a search engine , using Samuel Farrar led me to the Stead family and Farrars to 1970 if it helps...

Hi Colin

I have a lot of Tate's in my tree from Leeds & North Deighton but I cannot find a link with your William or Joseph. I did find in Leeds in the 1841 census a William Tate Tailor  age 40 born Scotland, wife Ann age 35 Joseph 11 Lucy 4 Ann 2

HO107/1346/book 7 48 p 23.
