Hi Jarby,
Welcome to the BRABY/BRAVERY saga ;)

I'm going to dig deep into my notes this afternoon, so might be able to come up with some information for you.  As far as I can remember, there has been no new developments on the BRABY Amberley/Rudgwick front, but I think I can come up with your 'Squire' of Rudgwick family story remembered by your grandfather!

Hi Jane,
Thanks for the prompt response.  You have given me some useful stuff to look through. I am sure that you are right that my grandfather's information is unreliable, I understand that he was very much inclined to a romanticised view of his ancestors rather than facts. Anyway, I suppose if he had been better on facts I would not have the fun of  searching the internet. If I come across anything that I think will be of interest to you I will be back.
Thanks
Jarby

Hi Jarby,
Glad that got through.
After I had sent it, I felt that the Rudgwick Braby paper could have been a little more relevant to you.  The one I sent was one I had done for someone looking for the Guildford branch.  If you would like me to send a better one outlining  this line in a fuller context, let me know.
It's always good to hear of family lore, even if it's a little embroidered, 'cos it makes you go back & dig again!
Try www.rudgwick.net/history, it has an interesting & amusing history of the parish.

Hi Jane,
I am still working through your information, but further details on the Rudgwick side would be gratefully received. Thanks for the link to the village site.

Hi Jarby,
Be glad to illuminate on the Rudgwick Site, but can you wait a few days? As I've got some HOT research of my own...exciting!
If you don't hear from me by Monday, give me a reminder!

Thanks Jane,
I appreciate your finding time to send me the file. It looks like it confirms one or two things I had suspected from my research and gives me further possibilities. It is certainly very confusing when there are so many James Brabys, but who am I to complain about that!
Regards

Hi guys

I am trying to trace information about my dads side of the family.  My dad's name was Gerald Bravery, son of Iris and William Bravery.  All I know is that my Dad's father had died in the war before he was born and that when he was young they lived above a shop in George Street, Hove.

My brother Christian Bravery (24) and myself (Katherine Bravery, 31) have lived in Brighton all are lives and know very little of our cultural heritage or where our name comes from.  My Dad and Grandmother have both been dead for a number of years so we have little to go on.

I would appreciate any guidance from anyone who might know of my Father or Grandfather

Thanks
Kate

Hi Kate,
AS you can see from my research names at the bottom of my reply, you have come to the right place!  Bravery was my mother's name and I've been researching it for more than 30 years, so I can give you your linneage right back to 1600 :D
Can you send me a personal message please, as I wont be able to send the files that I'm sure you'll want to have, through Rootschat.  Just click on my name and at the bottom it says, send Jane a personal message', please include your email address so that we can start up a correspondance.
This is VERY exciting ;)
