Hi, here is my info as promised - apologies for the many bits you no doubt already know.
1841 census - Charles John Womersley (upholsterer) born 1810 Tenterden, Kent, wife Caroline W, children Arabella, Evelinda Voyce, Alfred, & William at Albion Place, Hastings. I am curious as to when CJW was in Pentonville Road, London.
CJW and Caroline W (nee Shaw) married on 23 August 1831 in Crowhurst, Sussex. Caroline could have been christened 15 Nov 1807 In Horsham, Sussex to William and Rhoda Shaw. RS died in Hastings in 1844 & there is also a William Shaw died in Hastings in 1844.
Caroline died in 6 May 1848 in Hastings, vol 7, pg 277 (5th son, Beronia born April/May/June 1848) - burial??
Charles remarried on 2 April 1850 - to Catherine Price (nee Hands) - she was born in 1815 in Oxford. Wedding Cert shows CJW’s dad as David W., occupation, Mason. In 1851, Charles (41) and Catherine (37) lived at 3&4 York Place with Caroline and Charles’s 5 sons, Alfred Douglas (b.1838), William (b.1840), Henry (b.1842), Charles G (born 1844), Beronia 1848 and 1 daughter, Evelinda Voyce Womersely born 1834. (Would love to know relevance of Voyce & Gaskill middle names). Evelinda was a milliner.
In 1851 W relatives were resident in Chesterfield Street, Marylebone. (Chesterfield St was the home of the Wesleys in 1771, as in Wesleyan religion). They included Mary R W (born Redbridge, Hants in 1782), CJW’s mother. She is listed as the Head of the household and an annuitant. Also, two sisters of his - Mary E. (born Camberwell, Surrey in 1816/1814), she was a milliner, and Martha Selina (born Saddleworth, Yorks in 1818/1820) who was a governess. Also resident were two of CJW’s daughters born in Hastings, Arabella, born 1836 and Mary Selina, born Jan-Feb-Mar 1846. (So 9 children in total) Mary R is listed as a widow aged 69.
I am intrigued by a resident of 4 Chesterfield St who was a “Demonstrator of Chemistry”!
A Mary Rose Anna W dies in 1859 in Clerkenwell. (I presume she is Mary R W above) (A David W died in Clerkenwell in 1842, but also a David W died in Hastings in 1848 & 2 in Halifax!)
In 1861 Charles (51) and Catherine (46) lived at Harold Place, Hastings. Catherine dies on 28 March 1862 when she is aged 49 years. She is buried at the Parish of St Clements Church in Halton (a district of Hastings). The headstone says “The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more”
In 1861, Charles John W has remarried to an Eleanor, who was born about 1815 in Kingsbridge in Devon. They married in Chelsea in 1865. He is now 61, an upholsterer and auctioneer and they live in Harold Place in Hastings. I think Eleanor/Ellen was previously Ellen Innocent. Meanwhile, Charles’s sister, Martha S. W, is living with Mary Selina W (his daughter) in Hastings. Martha is a Lodging Housekeeper at Alexandra House, Denmark Place in the seafront and Mary Selina is a Visiting Governess. In March 1868 Laura Sarah Pert wee (my GG Gran, aged 17 married Charles Gaskill W aged 24 . They married at the Wesleyan Chapel in West Hackney. Witnesses were Charles’s sister, Mary Selina W and John Innocent (possibly son of his father’s 3rd wife Ellen W (nee Innocent). Possibly John I was a goldsmith.
On 14th June 1871, Charles died of TB in Sandown, Isle of Wight he was 28, an accountant, 6 mths after my Great Gran, Maggie Pertwee W was born on the Island. Could not find a burial record in IOW - did his body go back to Hastings?
Meanwhile, in 1871, Charles’s sister, Martha Selina W, is living with his daughter Mary Selina W in Hastings. Martha is a Lodging Housekeeper at Alexandra House, Denmark Place and Mary Selina is a Visiting Governess. The house is in Denmark Place on the seafront. Other sister Mary EJ W. is living in St Leonards with 2 servants.
In 1881, Mary E W aged 63 and born in Camberwell) is living in 23, Woodhouse Lane ( exists today - LS2 8LX) as a confectioner together with a sister Selina who was born in 1822 in Halifax, aged 59. They are both listed as unmarried.
Charles is now 71 living at 6 Wellington Square, the most elegant part of Hastings that remains from this time. The houses are terraced Edwardian houses around a green. He is described as a Master Upholsterer, wifes name now Ellen but still born in Devon.
In 1881, Mary E is living in Darlington together with her sister Martha, they are aged 77 and 73. Evelinda lives at 9 West Terrace, Darlington & has 3 daughters & 1 servant. Mark Fooks, her husband, born abt 1835, Thornford, Dorset is a journalist on the Northern Echo. Excellent article by Mark at

Evelinda also appears in 1891 & 1901 census.
In 1891, Charles and Eleanor are at 40 Quarry Road, Hastings in 1891 and Charles finally died in June 1899 (where buried?). She is now born Middlesex, not Devon?
Eleanor dies AMJ 1900 Camberwell.
Selina W’s parish birth record (Saddleworth) shows father as David and Rosanna Womersley. David’s parents were Joseph W (b 3 Oct 1745, Hartshead) and Alice Cardon of Birstall, and Joseph’s parents are John W and Hannah Wilkinson -(source Genuki - West Yorks church records). The family are Wiredrawers in Clifton, West Yorkshire.
