Hi Erin

If you are still looking for Clive Street and Essex Street, I have a link to the os old maps site

http://www.old-maps.co.uk

If you do a search for Toxteth (Lancashire), and then click on the enlarged view you will get the section of the map which has Essex Street on it.  It is to the left of St Thomas Church and a block down. It runs between Park Street and Northumberland Street. Clive Street isn't mentioned on this map but it is on my paper copy of the 1905 OS map of Toxteth (lots of my relatives started life there).

Clive Street is the first road after Beaufort Street and again runs between Northumberland and Park Streets, just a block nearer the river.

On the current A-Z of Liverpool there is a small Essex Street in about the right place but no sign of Clive Street. Don't know when it was knocked down.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Ruby
