please help me !
« on: Sunday 29 October 06 20:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for a Mrs Lyon who died around 1986, she died in the Church of Scotland Balmedie Nursing Home, i would love to know her name and who her parents are because my dad knows nothing about her (his nan) and he'd love to know more but i'm having trouble. I think she could of been born around 1901 but i'm really not certain i just need some sort of census results as i have been trying to research my dads side of the family for quite along time and i just can't seem to get anywhere.

Mrs Lyon had a daughter called Mary Jane Lyon who recenly died and Mary married George Davidson Taylor who recently died aswell. They were living in Aberdeen when they died but i know for certain they wern't born there. I know that George had a brother called Jeck, well that's what the family used to call him but i think his real name was probably Jack.

Please help  ??? ???
Naomi
Sirnames I'm researching
Broyds,Playels,Broads,Rawlinson's,Cresswells,Pettetts(pettitts),Taylors(england and Scotland),Hills and Humphreys.

Hi Nomee

Given how recent these events are, to be honest this is not the best site for that type of information.

In case you don't know this, the on-line official pay to view site Scotlands People has records which stop at certain points:

Births up to 1905
Marriages up to 1930
Deaths up to 1955
Censuses up to 1901

For more recents records, maybe a way for you to proceed is to start working back with what you know for certain. I assume from your post that Mary Jane Lyons, who died recently, and was married to George Davidson Taylor was a daughter to Mrs Lyons. You could try to obtain their marriage cert. See the link below:

www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/bdm.html

If you can obtain their marriage cert., this would include details of who their parents were. If you are so uncertain of names and dates, work back slowly building up your facts until you are at the point where you can go on-line for records.

Maybe someone else here can suggest another way forward for you.

Don't give up, you just need to figure out how!

Regards.

Monica

Have you tried contacting the Nursing Home.  Another suggestion would be to get someone to get the obit, that would give you people to start contacting.
