Hi Chris,

Good heavens, what a treasure trove you have unearthed, how marvelous.  It explains one or two things too, we have often wondered how he could afford to buy land not long after his arrival, John obviously knew he had money due to him, if he did not bring it with him! Never dreamed it was quite so much though!

I will do as you suggested and ask for a full transcription of the whole 28pages !! Hopefully I can pay on line, but will contact the record offices direct.

I am glad you found it interesting too.  Thank you ,thank you, thank you.  It is appreciated, if I can ever return the compliment from this end just 'shout'.

Regards,
kiwi.

Kiwi

I spent more time on your notebooks than I wanted to, but when I walked into the search rooms and signed in, the books were put into my hands straight away - so had no option but to start on them.  Glad I did really because it gave me a buzz that lasted the rest of the day.

When you manage to get a full transcript of the pages in the notebook that relate to your ancestors, I would love to have a copy please;  could I also put it on my rootschat archive website amongst the Sussex archives.  It so vividly paints a picture of what life was like some 160 years ago and the type of household goods that were used.

I really enjoyed reading it

PS - I love the added information of the names of the animals - fantastic ;D

Hi Chris
thank you very much for taking the time to look for me.
looks like martha miller was in fact martha millen.
i've just looked at the birth cert of one of their sons and it does look more like an 'n' not an 'r'.

thanks again :)

Chris,

Thanks so much for doing this research for me!!!!!   Living in the US, it's hard for me to access English parish records.

Obviously, I will need to pursue some different searches on Ticehurst, Heasman, etc.

Beware!  I will be watching very carefully for your announcement of your January visit to the record office!

Thanks again,  Jann

Thanks, Chris, very much for looking for my Albert George Boys - sorry if it was a goosechase, but he certainly has Alciston as his place of birth in 1872 on census returns.

Thanks again for looking  ;)

best wishes

Clara
