Ship arrival 1851, Melbourne
« on: Friday 27 October 06 09:38 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am looking for the ship name in which Charles Nicolai Frederick  arrived on in 1851, in Melbourne. He would of been 21 years of age. I know this is scarce informatoion but it is all I have.
Cheers,
Matt

I've had a quick look in some online indexes, but I can't find him. Most of the indexes start in 1852 - the lists for previous to that are in the NSW archives, but he doesn't appear to be in those either. Mind you, most of the immigrants in these lists are from Britain. I presume from your bloke's name that he wasn't English?

I'm not sure how to find non-British immigration, but I'll see what I can do.

Just a question - are you sure the arrival was Melbourne? It's just that a lot of German people arrived in S.A. and traveled overland to Melbourne.

HTH,

Kez :)

Hello Kez,
Yes you would be right in the SA question, I am trying to find a link to the Ulbrich names I have found there. It seems that the family is dispersed somewhere along the voyage out, and I am trying to connect them but to no good end.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Jenn,
Someone told me a few months ago that this family might be Nicola's father, mother and sister but I am at a loss to connect them. But I really think this is a connection of some sort.
Cheers,
matt

Is this the same Nicola who married Margaret Ferguson 1855 (reg 2468)?

An 1855 marriage certificate is after civil registration began in Victoria, you will get the birthplaces of the bridal pair, both parents (including mother's maiden name) of the bride and groom and father's occupation.

A certificate can be downloaded from the BDM web site ($A17.50)
