Brand New to the Board-Kirk Family (Clarke & White family by marriages)
« on: Thursday 26 October 06 19:38 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone.  My name is Stephen and I live in Long Island New York just outside New York City.

I am a 5th generation decendent of Edward Kirk b. 1818.  Edward married Anne Clarke in Ireland.  Together with his brother Henry Kirk b.1815 who had married Mary Smith in Ireland they left from Belfast in 1859 immigrating to Ontario, Canada.  The two brothers settled in Sarawak, Ontario on Lot 23 concession 3.  Accompanying the brothers were two sons Edward Roland Kirk (with Edward) and Samuel Kirk (with Henry Kirk.)  After building a cabin they sent for their wives and family.  The wives and family arrived in Ontario either late 1863 or early 1864.

We never have located any ship records for either crossing.

My sister and I have basicly completed the research of the Kirk's in Canda and the  United States and it is time to move into the unknown waters of Ireland research.  Edward and Anne Kirk had a total of 11 children and Henry and Mary Smith had 10 children.   Of course some were born in Ireland and the rest in Ontario, Canada.

Marriage records of their children definitely establishes they were from County Antrim.  So does Anne Clarke's death record.  Futher research combining the names under Tithe and Griffith's Evaluation is pointing us toward the Township of CREEVERY.  One marriage record in Canada indicates that the son from the original crossing Edward Roland was born is Belfast?

Our research also points us toward the father of Edward and Henry Kirk may be a Samuel Kirk.  (wife unknown) I base that on the naming patters of children by both the brothers.

So I guess my first question would be is anyone researching these Kirk's from Antrim?  My second question is anyone familiar with research tools available for CREEVERY or advise we have the wrong location?
Then finally can anyone help us prove that these two men are the sons of Samuel Kirk who apparently never joined them in Canada and most likely remained in Antrim, Ireland or are the sons of another man.

Of course I am greatful to anyone who can assist us and will reciprocate in any way I can assisting others who need lookups in Canada or the United States.  I have computer access to various Canadian and U.S. records.
Possibly the Township Creevery, Parish of Antrim, Connor Registrar District, Shilvodan Electoral District.
BELFAST area.
Names are Kirk, Clarke and White

Hi PJTay,

I am very sorry but out notification to Stephen has sadly bounced back to us as it looks like he has changed his email address  ???

I did have a google for him but sadly I was not able to find out his surname which makes looking for him almost impossible.

Kind Regards

Sarah
