Oh you are a treasure - thank you.

I'll go and check the Newspaper /Family History - anything "online" is always a big bonus  ;D

I live in the Scunthorpe area and I can think o 4 cemeteries off the top of my head.
1. St.Peter's at Bottesford.
2. Burials take place at Scunthorpe crematorium.
3. There is a cemetery on Ferry Road Scunthorpe nearly opposite the new police station.  Not sure of the exact name.
4. There is another cemetery on Cemetery Road opposite a large sports field owned by the Corus steelworks.

Just a message to say the cemetery opposite Ferry Rd police station is simply called Crosby Cemetery. My grandparents, great grandparents and one 2x greatgrandfather are all buried there.

The staff at the crematorium are all very helpful. They gave me a printout showing exactly where the graves are -useful as unfortunately all the graves are unmarked.

hello,
the cemeteries in scunthorpe are ,
Crosby Cemetery, Ferry Road, no longer in use but largely intact
Scunthorpe Cemetery , West Street , no longer in use and virtually obliterated.
there are a few head stones collected together in the corners.
Brumby Cemetery, Cemetry Road, still partially in use
There are gravestone in St Lawrence's church .
The modern Crematorium / Cemetery , Brumby wood lane

Thanks Cuxwold,

From that info I am therefore assuming the most likely 1965 burial location would be the main Crem/cemetery in Brumby Wood Lane. I have emailed them and am awaiting reply.

Appreciate your help

Thanks

hi again
You may get all your info from the crem as it is the only cemetery with a working office.
In 1965 your relative could still have been buried in Brumby cemetery , as I had a relative buried there as late as 1976, and there are still burials going on today. Its most unlikely that Crosby cemetery would have been used, unless a plot was already bought and paid for.

regards
