Higham Ferrers Address
« on: Tuesday 24 October 06 15:33 BST (UK) »
I was brought up in Higham Ferrers, and would love to know if there is any way of getting hold of photographs of my childhood home.

If anyone has any suggestions, i would be delighted to hear from you.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Seahall,

I'm looking for 46 Milton St, Higham Ferrers. It was on the corner, at the opposite end of the road to the Junior School, and was otherwise known as Milton Cottage.

I remember that the back garden ran about half the length of the road adjoining (Nene Close?), and that there was an old orchard within the grounds.

Many thanks
Martin

I live in Higham Ferrers and know the people at 46 Milton St very well!!!!

Yes it's still the same- double fronted and painted white with the garden and lean to garage round the corner in Nene road.

My best friend lives at 42 !!!

This is an example of how Rootschat works so well!

I am always delighted when I can help others, and amazed at how many 'friends' I can meet here.

Thanks to you all.

Oh wow...I'm not sure I know how to navigate through this website, as I've just started...but here goes.  I've just started tracing my families roots in Rushden Northamptonshire.  I remember seeing an address that family lived in Higham Ferrers but also Rushden.  Are they the same place?  One family member lived at 11 Griffith Street and some others lived at either 84 or 86 Crabb Street in Rushden.  Could our ancestors have been neighbors.  My great grandparents James & Eliza Penness lived on Crabb and his brother lived on Griffith.  They made shoe components for a factory.  Anybody have any knowledge of the Penness family.  I have made some contacts over there from the U.S. James and Eliza had a huge family with about 9 kids: Clara, George, Harry,Horace, James, Gladys, Leonard, Jesse, Howard.  Wow!  How'd they manage?
I am researching the Penness family name.  Eliza & James Penness were my great-grandparents and lived in Rushden on Crabb Street.
They had 9 children.  One of them was George F. Penness, my grandfather.  Thanks for any information regarding this.

Sue
