Thanks for all your help so far on the Cavanagh name. Could I ask either/both of you for another check on this name, in the years you have access to, but this time at Argyle Street (?Place).
Thanks in advance - much appreciated.

Hi Anthony,
does your 1870 directory have a name index or just streets? If there is a name index I'd be pleased if you could look up a William James skilling - possibly working as a teacher.
If anyone wants look ups in the Hendersons 1856 Ulster directoy - I have that. Outside Belfast it really only lists traders and important people
Davies: Flintshire & Liverpool
Williams: Anglesey & Liverpool
Hughes: Anglesey
Evans: N Wales
Street: Lancs & Cheshire
Skilling: Liverpool & Ulster
Gilfillan: Co Down
McNickle: Ulster, Derry
Dempsey: Co Derry
Bilsborrow: Liverpool
Potter: Liverpool
Also special interest in Edinburgh, Whiting and Goodger

Thanks for that - we have all been keeping you busy haven't we?
I reckon this is probably my man but he was a teacher in 1862 in Newtownards - then when he moved to Liverpool he became a freight clerk. Wonder why he stopped teaching
Did book keepers get more pay? Surely the kids must have been little angels in those days
thank again

Wow you are working overtime - I have this Stephen in the 1856 Ulster directory at same address - I think it is either a brother or the father but haven't managed to prove or disprove either theory yet. It is useful to go further back and know they were still at same address
Thanks very much
