Just two things which came out with my conversation with my aunt. Annie's date of birth 30 Jun or 30 Jul and the name Esmeralda, but not sure if this was her mother's name or a sister. I sure hope this doesn't muddy the water.

This seems to be the best I can do here and it's a possibility but it will have to be for you to follow up since there seems to be an error and I can't see the image.

In a household in Castleford, Yorkshire there seems to be this family
Eliza Bond 70
Amy Watson 7
Charlotte Watson 15
Emma Watson 38
Esmorala Watson 4
Joseph Watson 18
Mary E Watson 9
Thomas Watson 39
Thomas Watson 13
William Watson 14

Most of them seem to have been born in either Wasbo/Wasbre or Fryston and the mother Emma in Darlson.  Looking at the way Esmeralda has been transcribed I would assume that the handwriting is not of the best and there is a possibility that "Amy" aged 7 might actually have been written "Anny".  The occupation of father Thomas is a Coal Miner Hewer.

The reference is RG13/ 4305; Folio: 95; Page: 36

You should be able to view the original image if you search for the name Esmerala (be careful this is how it is spelled on that database) Watson on this site http://www.1901censusonline.com/ but you will need a voucher.

I think you have found it Mary. That looks uncannily like the family I am looking for. And my elderly aunt agrees.

Is there anymore information there?

Is there anymore about this family in 1891?

Many thanks in advance,

Well there is an Esmeralda WATSON on Free BMD born Sep Q 1896 Pontefract 9c 106.

Might make your 1893 Annie ref for Pontefract look good especially as there is Elizabeth WATSON on next page to Annie - could be her twin  ???

P.S. There is a death for an infant Elizabeth WATSON in Pontefract Sep Q 1893 9c 72

Do you mean you recognise these names? How? you didn't know any before.

I'm reluctant to do a huge amount of delving until we know for sure, that assumption of "Anny" could well be Amy, who knows until somebody has viewed the original image.  No there is no more information available about it from just the entries in the database that I'm able to see.

This is the 1891 census and from here you can check the 1881 census for yourself at www.familysearch.org but I can't see how you can be so certain with this little uncorroborated information.

Not much point to keep trying if it isn't there, there's not the same problem with other images so it's specifically with this folio.  The way around it is either to go to the Record Office as they will have the census on film or fiche, or purchase the image on the site I gave above.

A Good Question Mary.

Before my sister died she tried to make a family tree in a notebook, my niece has it, my sister had written down some names, but I didn't know if it was reliable as she did it from memory. Some of those names mentioned are in the book and there are others, maybe born after 1901 which are not in the 1901 census, so what my sister had done was actually quite good. So that is how I now recognize them.
