Help with IGI Batch number please
« on: Thursday 19 October 06 02:09 BST (UK) »
On the LDS site I found batch number I009838 but no other information for a relative. It refers to a christening in Kensington in 1874. Is there any way to find out which church or parish this reference applies to?
Thanks for any help

Hello

This sounds as if it has been put on by a member of the church.  What is the name of the person on the record?

Hi

Thanks for the reply
The name is Oliver Heinrich Bamberger who was born in 1866 but this IGI shows he was baptized 12 JUL 1874. There may be some underlying reason for this. It is possible that the same record may show Nellie Harriet Bamberger who was born Kensington March 1874 and Alexander Bamberger who was born 1869.

Thanks

I think this record has been put on by a member of the church.  I can't find a way into the batch but Nellie and Alexander are not on the IGI and kensington church records for that date are not on the IGI.  It is very late for IGI records.

It is possible they were all baptised on the same day for some reason but the person who put the record on the IGI was only interested in Oliver.

You could contact or visit your nearest LDS family history centre to see if you can view the film.  The LMA may have the original church records but you would have to search every church in Kensington.

Sorry I don't know what else you can do.

Have you found him in 1881 census?

Oliver Heinrich Bamberger was my great grandfather and I have found him on all census (censi?!) from 1871-1901. He died in 1934
I was hoping to find the church where he was baptized so that I could find out whether it was Anglican, CofE etc etc. It seems that each child, and there were 8 of them, may have had different religious upbringings and I was curious about Oliver

Thanks for the help

That "batch number" is for a whole load of baptisms and marriages extracted (presumably from the same registers) for the early 1870s.

Enter the batch number I009838 into the IGI batch number box and you will see hundreds of entries (all Kensington).  Whether these have been extracted by a member of the LDS church or a private individual, to assist others, I'm not sure but it may be worth trying to find a number of them in the census to see if they all lived in the same vicinity ie. whether you can try and deduce the most likely church that way.

It's a pity that the full name of the church hasn't been included in the index :(

Thanks for the tip-as you say there are hundreds of them in that batch number- I could be pushing daisies up by the time I get through them all!  Maybe I shall have to change direction to sort this one out

Hi Leah, :)
Is this your great grandfather ?
Oliver BAMBERGER age 15 on the 1881 census and residing at
19 Tavistock Rd, St Lukes Vicarage.Westbourne Park.
If so it may be worth checking with the LMA as they hold the records. This is the link to the generations Database.

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/corporation/family-research/registerSearchForm.asp

I found this info on Genuki.

Paddington, St.Luke , (Tavistock Road) Westbourne Park [1868] registers cease 1947 1952 parish united with previous. worship in chancel only 1959. Demol by 1963. Do not confuse with St.Luke Fernhead Rd.
see SAINT LUKE, WESTBOURNE PARK, TAVISTOCK ROAD, WESTMINSTER for registers at LMA
Parish is no. 12 on outline map

Hope this helps you  :)
