Perhaps you are already aware that Hallcraig House, a mansion it would seem, existed in Carluke in the 1800's and that it may have been owned by the Cunningham family in the mid 1840's.
In the 1890's, there is record of a pit by the name of Hallcraig in Carluke, owned by Coltness Iron Company of Newmains, perhaps this was there from earlier and the Hallcraig Houses were occupied by miners and their families. Do you have an occupation for John Moreland that may bear this out?
