Hi Susan

The furthest secure family members are John WOOD b abt  1817 Culmstock. (Think parents were George WOOD and Mary MOON) John W. married Mary Ann TAPSCOTT Wellington Reg District 1841. They had 10 children. John was a Boot maker by trade but was also a Carrier. He retired in 1901 Census and Died Tiverton 1908. His son George WOOD married Ann KELLAND Mar 1867 in Exeter. Ann's family seem to have been Blacksmiths mainly and I have just received a lot more information about KELLANDS. My GG Grandmother was Bessie WOOD b abt Sep 1868 and died Devizes Wiltshire 1898 in childbirth. This last person is a mystery as her husband Francis CORKELL was working GWR Rail works Swindon where they had a house. I have no idea why she died in Devizes BUT there is a family of WOODS born Culmstock and living DEVIZES at around this period so I suspect related  family looking after her. Hope we may find some overlapping history!
