Hi Doreen, I'm also in NZ. We have a bit of information but as Charles Cornelius died when my ggrandfather was 6 (son of a second marriage) it's all a bit vague. I have to say that Thomas is not a common family name tho I now have a niece called Susanna and a nephew called Thomas!

I am just new to this and I have found out that we are family of Thomas and Susannah, from their son who was born in Malta, are they Maltese or just living their when they were born??

Thomas was born in Northern Ireland and he was in the British Army and was stationed in Malta where the children were born.
He was part pensioned off in 1823 and went to NSW where he was the superintendant of the Convict Barracks (known as the Asylum) cheers Doreen

My great great grandmother was Mary Jane Plunkett daughter of Edward, brother of George.................Edward and George's parents were Thomas and Susannah. Mary Jane married Cyrus Huxley who was Thomas Huxley's brother and so on

THOMAS Plunkett b ca 1775 Co Monaghan, Ireland m. 1800 to Susannah CRAWFORD in Killeevan.
Thomas’ siblings:
_ MARY
_ JAMES stayed in Ire, married twice*, 1 dau
_ EDWARD went to the U.S.
_ GEORGE lived in father’s old place up country.
Note: James & "father" lived in a small area off Union St, Belfast known as "Plunketts Court" consisting of 6 small houses.

Note: "Northern Ireland in this era included County Monaghan.

Not all the posts in this thread with new information contain dates, places or relationships ... and I'm desperate for facts, if for no other reason than a process of elimination via identification.  Thanks!

Searching for the family of Mary Plunkett (GG-Gm) who married Patrick Byrne of Leitrim, Co Monaghan circa 1820-1839, RC - St. Michael's, Corduff or St. Mary's in Carrickmacross Town.

has extensive details and photos of the Plunketts in Australia commencing with George Plunkett aged 16 arrived in 1823 NSW with his parents Thomas & Susannah. Thomas was in the army and became the Overseer of the Asylum (convict) in Parramatta. + much much more.

I'm a 7th generation ancestor of Thomas Plunkett located in Western Australia.

Just under 200 years after 1775, in 1960 there were five Plunketts listed in the Belfast and Northern Ireland street directory including Rev. Hedley W. Plunkett of 272, Antrim Road and Marine Insurance Brokers F. Plunkett and Son, Ltd of 10, Donegall Square, South and 22-26, May Street, Belfast. Would these Plunketts be of any use to any one?
