In the 1901 census the family was living in Claytown and were there at their sons Leonards birth so had bene there for awhile. At the time of the signing of the Covenant they lived in Victoria St. According to his marriage certificate Joseph's place of birth was Legacurry. Mary Ann is still alive and has signed the Covenant. There are three Joseph Nicholson's listed as signing the Covenant but are living in Belfast. I don't know if Mary Ann is widowed or not by then or if Joseph was working elsewhere. Most of the rest of the family is still in Lurgan. Several of the children are living in the family home but Mary Ann is with a daughter in another house.

I believe this is my family. I am descended from Edmund Nicholson (m first, Sarah Duke and 2nd Emily Kirk) all of Legacurry, Lurgan. I cannot currently access my big family tree (which is on another computer which is broken) but as soon as I can, I will get in touch and let you know how this all fits together. Where are you based and from whom are you descended? R

Wonderful!
I will look forward to hearing from you.
We live in the US in Oregon on the west coast.
I haven't been able to go back farther than Joseph Nicholson's father who was named John. His mother may have been named Anne Jane but I am not sure yet. I do believe John had a sister named Eliza Jane.
Joseph had a son named Leonard who married Margaret Orr of Lurgan. They both emigrated to the US to Colorado in 1919 and 1921. They were my mother-in-laws family. Cindy

HI All,
I have a Martha Nicholson in my tree who married a Joseph/Joshua Fitzsimmons
in a neighbouring townland(Moyraverty) in 1856. Also her their son who emigrated to Canada named one of his sons Edmund. There is posibly a connection.  A lady with the christian name of Duke from the townland of Drumgask(again a neighbouring townland) is a neighbour of mine.
If I find out more I'll be in touch,
