Geary family

I am trying to trace anyone in the Co. Cork area who may be related to PATRICK GEARY, he emigrated to England and lived in Birkenhead (by Liverpool) in the early 1900's.  He married MARY McCARTHY in the 1920-30's.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I too am researching a Mary McCarthy although a different one! She married my g-grandfather John Bogg in 1866 in Charlton in Kent. Her father was Daniel Bogg a labourer. She died 12 years later of TB aged 30. She was living in East Plumstead at the time. she had three sons and two daughters. All children died except the eldest John Edward Bogg. I know nothing about her or her father or where they came from.  I suspect that her father worked at Woolwich Arsenal as did my g-grandfather as it was the main employer in the area at the time. Any connection?

I am researching that name in U.S.. In VT. and N.Y..  Did any of yours remove to U.S.?  A Julia Wilbur Geary (D) 1917/18 in one of those states (From my gt.gd.mother's diary) and may have been Julia Cook before any marriages.  (b) ca.1849 and (m) first Smith Wilbur in N.Y. by 1880.    Leagen

One of my father's brothers emigrated to California and lived in San Francisco.  His name was Daniel Geary and i do know he had two sons but I do not know where they are living now. He moved to the USA in the 1920-30's I think.  I do not know if this is any help to you but thank you for your reply to my enquiry.

Geary is a very common surname around the village of Gortroe and town of Youghal in Co. Cork, Ireland. That is probably where he is from. You could also try posting a mesage on the Youghal web-site www.youghal.net.

I have just started to do some research on my Geary side cannot find anything on my grandfather Jeremiah Geary born around 1905.  I know he had a brother Daniel Geary who emigrated to America aged 17 in 1917. Moved to San Francisco  some family talk on being relatd to the Mayor of San Francisco.
My grandfather Jeremiah Geary lived in Ellesmere Port but moved around alot he died in 1966. they where both  born in  County Cork.
Does this ring a bell with anyone.

I am tracing my great-grandfather Cornelious Geary born 1830"s who was a catholic priest who ran away to England to marry. I know he came from County Waterford and had several brothers who emigrated to America.

Have you looked for their births in the indexes? If they were born post 1864, it should have been registered. These are available at the Dublin GRO or on film at your local family history centre. (Church of the latter day saints)
