From the info, on the birth certificate, the marriage is Catherine's second. She was born Lewis and married a Reardon. There should be a marriage in the GRO index between Thomas Henry Jones and Catherine Reardon. The index is free to view on Ancestry and you need to search through quarter by quarter.

I've had a look through the Jones marriages between 1916 and 1923 and can't see it. Do you know of any other children which might give an idea of how early the marriage might be? Nothing shows up on FreeBmd earlier than this. It would probably be easier to search for Reardon if you could be sure that the name was recorded that way and not as Riordan or any other variant. I checked Jones as that should be spelt correctly but I could have missed the entry if husband wasn't recorded as Thomas.

Once you have the reference, the cert can be ordered from the GRO and it will give you the names and occupations of the fathers of the couple enabling you to search on the 1901 census.
You could phone or write to the registry office where the birth was recorded, and ask them to search for the marriage. If you try Genuki for Monmouthshire, there is info on the registration districts and their addresses.

I've had a look for Catherine's first marriage and found a couple of possibilities on FreeBmd
Dec qtr 1900 Pontypridd vol 11a pg 907 John James Riordan and Catherine Ann Lewis on same page.
June qtr 1909 Merthyr Tydfil vol 11a pg 1281 Catherine Elizabeth Lewis on same page as Sydney Charles Riordan.

My first thought was that the Catherine from 1900 would be too old to have a child in 1923, but I found this likely looking couple on the 1901 census -

16 Lower Church St, Mountain Ash RG13/5005 folio 49 pg 42
John J Riordan head mar 26 coal hewer b. Bishopsgate, London
Catherine A wife 21 b. Beaufort, Mon

So not beyond the bounds of possibility for this Catherine to be having a child in 1923. No way of checking if the other two are a couple as I haven't spotted any Riordan births after 1911 when the mother's maiden name shows on the index. Haven't spotted a Riordan death either but Freebmd isn't complete after 1910 or so and then you have the war to contend with. The marriage cert of Thomas Henry and Catherine is definitely the way to go - with any luck it will give ages rather than just 'full age'. I'll have another look through the full index when my eyes have recovered from the Joneses. If you have any info on older brothers and sisters, it would help prevent eye-strain.

hi there thank you for what you have done,, anything is a great help..
i have only heard a rumour about a brother but no proof,,so no help at all,
on the birth certificate it is definitly reardon.but you never know back in those days ??
the only other thing i had found, was a possible marriage thomas jones/catherine ann lewis, i applied for the cert, but when it arrived it was for a gwilym jones dated 6/may/1923. so they might have got it wrong on the index but i now have to find the gwilym jones marriage and see if it is actually thomas !!!! its a complicated thing this family history.only other detail i know is that thomas jones was a master confectioner/baker

well, I've checked Riordan and Reardon/den, both Catherine and Katherine from 1911 to 1923 with no luck. I spotted another spelling of Readon and checked this for the last few years of that period again with no success. I'm beginning to wonder if there was another marriage in the middle, but I think that should have been shown on the birth cert though I'm not entirely sure about that. I'll try again when I've got time.
