Hi re: Barker and Barton.

On the 1851 census,  there is no Charles Barker with a daughter Emma. There are 2 Emmas.  One born 1826 in Birmingham living with her mother, Mary Barton, a widow?. They are on Paradise St. The other Emma was born in 1836 and is a servant for the Abrahams family in Smallbrook St.

Also on the 1851 census, there is no James Barton with a son Thomas. There is a Thomas Barton, born 1829, living with his brother in law and sister, Hannah Crowley. Thomas is a vice maker.

Do you have any witness names on the marriage cert? Might be able to narrow it down.

Let me know if you want the full details of any of these folks.

I will make a note of these names as I go through the 1841 for Birmingham

It might take a while!

Cheers,
India

Hi Tai
Just wanted to let you know that just because it doesn't say that the father is deceased on the marriage cert it doesn't mean that he's alive.
I have three marriage certs from children of my ggranfather. First one,not dead...second one, dead. third one, 3 years later, not dead! I turnes out that the father was dead when all three children were married.
I think sometimes the registrar didn't ask.
Just wanted you to know.
Hope this helps,
India
