my grandfathers name is Paul Partington and his real mother was Alice McCormick and we are trying to find more information on them if anyone can help
Hi Brooke,

Your info. is rather vague...

It would be an idea to post relevant details for your g/f i.e. where/when born (full address) & all details on mother e.g. her usual address?

Was he adopted/brought up by another family?

If your g/f is deceased you can post his 'real' birth name too.

Interesting site on MacCormicks Island, I landed on this many years ago, nice wee harbour,
John Paul Jones apparently landed on it for ship repairs. ;D

Hi not entirely sure how this site works, but came across your ancestor Bryan McCormick.  Brian would be my great great uncle.  His Parents Sara McArdel, born 1795, and James McCormick, born 1795, are my direct ancestors, being my Great Great Great Grandparents.

Bryan was born in Crossmaglen Ireland in 1818 and died in Argyll Scotland in 1873.

Somewhere along the way here in Ireland at least, the name changed to McCormack and that was the surname of my maternal grandparents.  So in the 1901 Census the family here in Ireland went by McCormick, but by the 1911 Irish Census the surname was McCormack.

Would love to find out more about the ancestry.

Hi All,

Bryan McCormick was my 3 times great uncle, being my 4 times great grandparents son.  His bother Michael who remained in Ireland was my 3 times great grandfather.  Bryan was born in County Armagh, Ireland in 1818 according to my research and obviously at some point moved to Scotland.
Interested in any info about the McCormicks.  Also at some stage the name changed to McCormack.  In the 1901 Irish census its McCormick but in the 1911 census its McCormack.

Also if of any interest Bryan's parents were James McCormick born approx 1795 not sure when he dies and his wife was Sara McArdel born approx 1795.  They had 4 children Bridget born 1815, Bryan born 1818, Michael born 1821 and Patrick born 1824.  All born in Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, Ireland.
