Maxwell Family of Larne
« on: Thursday 12 October 06 05:31 BST (UK) »
On my great great grandmothers ( Sarah Rea) death certificate of 1914 the informant is a Margaret Maxwell of Sunnyside, Larne. Trying to find out whether Margaret is a relative possibly Sarah's daughter (I know 4 out of her 8 children were alive in 1911 census but only 3 of their names.)

There was a Sarah Rea and a Maggie Maxwell who both signed the Ulster Declaration in 1912 at Glynn. Might be worth your while having a look at the signatures of same in case they match.

Still can't see anything on map, but it doesnt cover out that far.

My James Trainor in Larne looks like he was a witness with a Mary Magill to the birth of a Jane Maxwell in Larne to Hugh Maxwell and Catherine Scally - quick note from the UHF. Year wasn't noted - about 1870 I might suspect - but may be wrong [a look up in the LDS may help confirm this].  Maxwells appear in the Whitewell 1911 - see Look up requests 1911 carnmoney - near my family links from Larne.

John and Susanna Maxwell COI Children:  Thomas, Hugh, Bryce, James, Susan 15/9/6 Antrim.  15 years married 9 children born 6 alive 1911 Whitewell

Any link?

Hi I must admit I haven't got any further with Margaret Maxwell. I found that Sunnyside was on the Old Glenarm Road in Larne and there seemed to be several of them  so can assume they are a terrace of houses.

I'd hoped to find some of the children of William Rea and Sarah Young who married in Glenarm NSP church in 1855 but when I went to PRONI in November  baptisms for 1855-1870 weren't on  microfilm.  I know Sarah had 8 children 4 living in 1911 and have got two of them and the death of one, but still don't know who the other 6 were, I was hoping Margaret would be one.

Hi shimmy (Teresa),
thanks for the reply, I wondered which Margaret Maxwell might have been the right one on the 1911. Still haven't got any further with this.
The family search site has got marriages so we may be able to find out Margaret maiden name ~ unfortunately the site is being updated will look later.

Hi Shimmy, thank you for the information. Margaret might have been a friend who was with her when she died.
