Hi Julie, I have in my tree, William Maxam b. 1802 Foxearth. Married Hannah Harding 8 April 1826, they have 9 children, all born St. Pancras.
I have over 100 Maxams, all descendants of William.
I understand William's surname was most probably Maxim, but because of his strong accent, London people spelt it Maxam, and that the way it's stayed.
Get in touch if I can help.

Derek

I am trying to learn more about a Sarah Bruce born c1800 in Foxearth Essex/Suffolk.  She married John Bruce 20/12/1829 in London.  Their children
were Emma, George, Eliza, Alfred, Harriet and Charles all of whom were born in Highgate, Middx between 1831 and 1842.

I am also trying to establish when John Bruce died.  He was in 1841 census but not 1851.

Many thanks for your help in this matter

Josie
