Hello  Jean, No I haven't seen the OPR's in the library. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dannielle,

I've done some checking up and the parish registers (deaths) only go to 1853. But I have a contact name for the trust who now own the kirk, so I'm going to see if they know who has the burial records and how I can get hold of them.

Hi Jean

Of course the questions you are asking have the answers I am looking for.

William Spark was born 1791 but I don't know where or when he died.

An Archibald was born 1841 & died before 1851
There was also a Mary born 1843 died some time after 1851.

There is a half sister buried at Fetteresso but I don't know what happened to the others.

Jane,

What was the name of William Sparks wife dob etc, as there are so many Sparks it may be easier to find her, as in Scotland the maiden name is usually placed on grave stones. If I find one I will more likely than not find more.

Jean
p.s do you have them on the 1841 census? If so where were they?

Hi Jean

William's wife was named Margaret Gilchrist but she died in Aberdeenshire in 1863

The family moved from Montrose which was where they were in 1841.

Archibald senior's wife was Barbara Reith from Drumoak so there was a lot of moving around.
Their daughter Ann is with relatives in Drumoak in 1841

Hi Jane,

I know I'm being a pain  but is this right?

William Spark b 1791 b.Where?
married Margaret Gilchrist dob? place? died 1863 Aberdeenshire.
Children:
Archibald b 1841 where? d before 1851
Mary b 1843 where ?d after 1851

Archibald Senior b. ? where?

For William do you have him on the 1851 & 61 census.
Where was mary in 1855

There really are a lot of spark entries and there are no christian names in the index so I will have to look at every entry. I f you let me know the last place you know they definitely were , I will start with that.

Jean.

Hi Jean my Sparks weere from Montrose.

There is another load of Sparks from Muchalls & I suspect most of those in the index are that crew to which no positive link has been made.

Mine settled in Durris area but there are no gravestones there I know.

There is at least one post 1855 in Banchory Ternan, if you could look at Banchory Ternan & Maryculter I would be grateful

Cheers

Jane
